Breeden Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent / Working Electrical Foreman to oversee the successful execution of residential and light commercial electrical projects throughout North & South Carolina. This position is responsible for leading field operations, supervising electricians and apprentices, ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently, maintaining exceptional customer relationships, and serving as the primary field representative of the company.

This is a working leadership position. The Superintendent is expected to supervise crews while also performing electrical work in the field whenever necessary. The ideal candidate is a seasoned electrician with outstanding leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, strong technical knowledge, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.

The Electrical Superintendent reports directly to the Managing Partner and plays a critical role in helping the company grow while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

Field Operations Leadership

  • Lead and supervise multiple residential and light commercial electrical projects simultaneously.
  • Plan daily work activities and assign personnel based on project priorities.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and scheduling to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to company standards, local codes, and project specifications.
  • Perform jobsite inspections to verify workmanship, quality, safety, and project progress.
  • Identify and resolve field issues before they become project delays.
  • Maintain organized and clean job sites.
  • Complete projects on time and within budget.

Working Electrician Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and service work when needed.
  • Install electrical systems according to NEC requirements and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and electrical drawings.
  • Diagnose electrical issues and determine practical, code-compliant solutions.
  • Ensure all installations meet Breeden Electric's quality standards.

Customer Relations

  • Meet with homeowners, builders, contractors, property managers, and commercial customers.
  • Build strong customer relationships through professionalism and excellent communication.
  • Explain electrical issues in terms customers understand.
  • Recommend the most practical and cost-effective solutions.
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain a positive image of the company at all times.

Estimating & Project Planning

  • Visit project sites to evaluate electrical work.
  • Prepare estimates for residential and light commercial projects.
  • Determine labor requirements and material needs.
  • Recommend efficient installation methods.
  • Identify potential project risks before work begins.
  • Assist ownership with project planning and scheduling.

Material Purchasing & Inventory

The Superintendent will be entrusted with a company purchasing card and is expected to exercise excellent judgment and financial responsibility.

Responsibilities include:

  • Purchase materials required for upcoming projects.
  • Verify quantities and pricing before purchasing.
  • Maintain receipts for every purchase.
  • Submit receipts promptly according to company procedures.
  • Ensure purchases are job-related and cost-effective.
  • Coordinate material deliveries to jobsites.
  • Prevent unnecessary spending and material waste.
  • Maintain accountability for all company-issued purchasing privileges.

Employee Leadership & Accountability

Lead by example while developing a high-performing electrical team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise electricians, apprentices, and helpers.
  • Train employees on proper installation techniques.
  • Mentor less experienced electricians.
  • Conduct daily jobsite planning meetings.
  • Hold employees accountable to company performance expectations.
  • Correct poor workmanship immediately.
  • Coach employees toward continuous improvement.
  • Document employee performance issues.
  • Recommend promotions, disciplinary actions, or additional training when appropriate.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, respect, and accountability.

Site Visits & Project Oversight

  • Visit active projects regularly.
  • Verify schedules are being maintained.
  • Inspect completed work before inspections.
  • Coordinate correction of deficiencies.
  • Communicate project updates to ownership.
  • Follow up on customer satisfaction after project completion.
  • Ensure projects remain profitable.

Collections & Payment Responsibilities

  • Collect customer payments when required.
  • Obtain signatures for completed work.
  • Deliver invoices when requested.
  • Accurately document all collected payments.
  • Ensure funds are submitted to the office immediately according to company policy.

Technology & Communication

The Superintendent must be comfortable using technology as part of daily operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Utilize company software for project management.
  • Update job progress daily.
  • Upload photographs and documentation.
  • Maintain electronic project records.
  • Communicate through company email and messaging systems.
  • Track tasks using company software.
  • Complete digital forms and inspections.
  • Learn and adopt new technologies as implemented.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Enforce company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety discussions with crews.
  • Ensure employees use appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain OSHA-compliant jobsites.
  • Immediately report accidents or safety concerns.
  • Promote a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience as an electrician.
  • Extensive residential construction electrical experience.
  • Experience leading electrical crews.
  • Working knowledge of light commercial electrical systems.
  • Expert understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor employees.
  • Comfortable speaking with customers, builders, inspectors, and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical electrical work.

  • Experience purchasing materials and managing project costs.
  • Experience using project management software, mobile applications, and digital documentation tools.
  • A North Carolina electrical license is preferred but not required.
