Electrical Helper Job Description

Position Summary
The Electrical Helper supports lead electricians in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and light commercial electrical systems. This position plays a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. The Electrical Helper assists with job site preparation, material handling, equipment setup, and basic electrical tasks while gaining hands-on experience in the electrical trade within a fast-paced service and construction environment.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, physically capable, eager to learn, and able to represent the company professionally at all times while working on customer job sites.

Primary Responsibilities
• Assist licensed electricians with the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, wiring, and related components.
• Support electrical projects by helping run wire, install outlets, switches, breakers, fixtures, panels, and other electrical equipment.
• Prepare job sites by gathering tools, staging materials, and ensuring work areas are organized before and after each project.
• Load, unload, transport, and properly store materials, tools, ladders, and equipment at job sites and company facilities.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA safety standards.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, drills, and testing equipment under supervision.
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues under the direction of a lead electrician.
• Follow all safety procedures, electrical codes, and company work standards at all times.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers, coworkers, subcontractors, and management.
• Present a clean, professional appearance appropriate for working in customer homes and commercial environments.
• Accurately document work completed, materials used, and any field observations as requested by management.
• Report safety hazards, damaged equipment, or job site concerns immediately.
• Participate in overtime, emergency service calls, or weekend work when required by project demands.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support company operations.

Required Qualifications
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clean driving record with the ability to be approved under company vehicle insurance.
• Reliable transportation to report to shop or job sites as assigned.
• Ability to work assigned hours consistently and arrive on time.
• Ability to comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and attendance expectations.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening, if required.

Professional Standards
• Must maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and respectful communication while representing the company.
• Must be able to work effectively in occupied residential homes, commercial properties, and customer-facing environments.
• Strictly prohibited from using, possessing, or being under the influence of illegal drugs, alcohol, or impairing substances during work hours, while operating company vehicles, or while on any job site.
• Must demonstrate honesty, integrity, and accountability in all work activities.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, carry, and move 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to squat, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform overhead work safely.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods throughout the day.
• Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, unfinished spaces, and outdoor conditions in varying temperatures and weather.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in a construction environment.

Work Schedule
• Typical work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 60-minute lunch break.
• Work hours may vary depending on customer needs, project deadlines, weather, or emergency service requirements.
• Overtime, evening, and weekend work may be required during peak workload periods.
• Schedule changes will be communicated by management as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in construction, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or related trades preferred.
• Familiarity with basic electrical tools, materials, and safety procedures.
• Trade school coursework or enrollment in an electrical apprenticeship program is a plus.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Experience working in residential service environments is a plus.

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 0–2 years of electrical, construction, or related field experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn the electrical trade and develop skills for advancement within the company.
